Re: Sinclair prefers the M-14
A few of us older guys could be heard saying "As far as I'm concerned, they stopped making rifles when they stopped making the M14".

x100.
My grandfather gave us his GM M1 carbine (naval Aviator) but told us to grab M14s if we could. |
Re: Sinclair prefers the M-14
My uncle was in one of the last training iterations in the Army to use M-14's and when I was commissioned, he bought two M1A's, and gave one to me.
I've had great fun with it over the years and it remaines my most treasured firearm. A couple years ago, I shot a service rifle match with it (my first high power match and first paper target competition since college) and managed to do well enough to satisfy "Fred." I went with a retired SF Colonel I've known for years and he shot a borrowed Garand. To our surprise, we both got the not spectacular but reasonably respectable SAME SCORE (385 I think but I don't remember for sure) but I bought the beers that day because he had one more "X" than me. All good fun. :-) |

Rattle Battle. A bunch of "old guys" shooting Garands. One good picture downrange over top of the shooters from the 600 yard line. You can barely make out the targets 600 yards away as a tiny line of dots on the skyline at the right. Yeah, that's just about what it looks like from 600 yards. Iron sights, 600 yards. Mind the wind. |

I'd pay money to see Jim Sinclair trying to survive in Alaska with a rented cabin and an M14.

Re: Sinclair prefers the M-14
I used to do a bit of goldpanning on the Talkeetna river when I was stationed at Ft. Wainwright. Beautiful country!
